After years of delays, development work resumed a number of months in the past on the 800-room, 47-floor Sarona Resort in Tel Aviv. The high-rise can have 40,000 sq. meters of lodge area, 2,000 sq. meters of business area, as much as 20,000 sq. meters of over-ground service areas, and 39,000 sq. meters of underground parking and repair areas.
Nitsba Group, managed by Airport Metropolis (TASE: ARPT) gained the Israel Land Authority (ILA) tender to construct the lodge on the six dunam (1.5 acre) South Kiryat lot in Tel Aviv approach again in 2011. Nitsba paid NIS 30.6 million for the land and NIS 24.2 million in growth prices. The tower was designed by Moore Yaski Sivan architects.
The undertaking obtained a constructing allow in 2014 and development started in 2015. Over time the undertaking confronted many issues that resulted in a halt in development work. These included a dispute between Nitsba and Electra Development, the corporate constructing the undertaking. Work was reportedly stopped twice due to this dispute. In 2020 the ILA fined Nitsba NIS 14 million for not finishing development inside 5 years.
