Former house secretary James Cleverly surged into pole place within the Conservative management contest on Tuesday, after ex-security minister Tom Tugendhat was knocked out.
Within the third spherical poll of MPs on Tuesday, Cleverly gained 39 votes, up 18 on the earlier spherical, after he picked up momentum on the get together’s annual convention final week.
He was adopted by former immigration minister Robert Jenrick on 31 votes, down two votes on the final spherical.
Former enterprise secretary Kemi Badenoch gained 30 votes, up two votes.
Tugendhat exited the race after coming final on 20 votes, down one vote, after shedding steam on the get together gathering in Birmingham.
One other contender can be knocked out on Wednesday within the fourth spherical poll, with the ultimate two candidates being put to the get together membership.
