I’m in a romantic temper nowadays. So, when a CoJ reader named Katharine despatched me this poem on Instagram, I couldn’t assist clutching my coronary heart.

Teodoro Luna’s Two Kisses
by Alberto Ríos

Mr. Teodoro Luna in his later years had taken to kissing
His spouse
Not a lot along with his lips as along with his brows.
This isn’t to say he put his brow
Towards her mouth —
Quite, he would raise his eyebrows, as soon as, rapidly:
Not so vigorously he could be confused with the villain
Well-known within the theaters, however not so little as to be thought
A slight motion, considered one of accident. This fashion
He kissed her
Typically and quietly, throughout tables and thru doorways,
Generally in images, and so by means of the years themselves.
This was his ardour, that solely she would possibly see. The prospect
He would possibly really feel some motion on her lips
Towards laughter.
